Director, Principals Program, Facing History & Ourselves

Tara Cox is an educational leader, advocate, and servant leader with more than 18 years of experience advancing equity, leadership development, and educational opportunity. Tara is committed to helping cultivate a generation of girls who are confident, courageous, and equipped to lead meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

Throughout her career, Tara has dedicated herself to creating opportunities for young people to thrive by strengthening the systems and leaders that support them. She currently serves as Director of the Principals Program at Facing History & Ourselves, where she partners with school and district leaders to build inclusive, courageous learning communities rooted in belonging, reflection, and justice. She also serves as an adjunct professor, preparing future educators to lead with purpose and create environments where every student can succeed.

Tara believes that leadership is grounded in service, authenticity, and the courage to act with integrity. Whether mentoring emerging leaders, designing transformative learning experiences, or serving alongside fellow board members, she is passionate about investing in the limitless potential of girls and young women.

Above all, Tara is a devoted wife and the proud mother of three. Her greatest hope is to help build a world where every girl knows her worth, discovers her voice, and has the opportunity to pursue her dreams with confidence.
